What is It?
The WasteWise Project is a partnership between The County Durham Environmental Trust (CDENT), Durham County Council and Groundwork East & West Durham. It has been funded by landfill tax credits from CDENT (using monies supplied by Durham County Waste Management Company). Following changes to the landfill tax credit scheme WasteWise is now operating at a lesser capacity. The Project Coordinator now works part time on this project and part time on school grounds work.

What Does It Do?
The Project works with schools throughout County Durham, Darlington and the City of Sunderland to help schools develop sustainable waste minimisation practices integrated into the curriculum. The project works with pupils between the ages of 3 & 18.
The key to WasteWise initiatives are that they are whole school projects, this does not mean that the officers work with every pupil and every member of staff, but that in some way all members of the school community can be involved either through assembly presentations, after-school clubs, notice boards or newsletters.
To find out more and to give you some ideas of the types of projects we get involved in please have a look at the Latest news page. Below are some photo's to show some of the Projects we get involved in.
