10th October 2006

On November 9th 2006 One World Network North East is running a FREE training session for Building Effective Partnerships, in schools which are at the stage of having been to visit their partner school in Africa, Asia or Latin America at The EWE Centre. The attached flyer could be sent to any schools you know that are at this stage of school links. (It has already been sent out by the British Council and this is a reminder.) If you are in touch with any schools, your personal contact could help us to publicise this session. There are only 25 places so it is essential that schools book their place by contacting The EWE Centre.

Click here to order a free KS3-4 DVD from the MET Office.The DVD contains five short films covering the key weather topics of air masses, hurricanes, precipitation, weather fronts and depressions, by making extensive use of weather graphics and video footage.

The Cumbria Development Education Centre (CDEC) are promoting a 2 day course highlighting the opportunities to deliver Philosophy for Children in the outdoors. Click here to see the course flyer. The School Grounds Development Project celebrated its 10th Anniversary on 20th July at The EWE Centre. A great time was had by all and a big thankyou given to all the people, partner organisations and schools who have supported the project over the last ten years. Government Office North East today launched the Sustainable Schools Framework in the North East. Launched by Jonathon Blackie, Regional Director of GONE, speakers also included Janice Lawson from DfES Partnerships and Federations Unit, our very own Mike Tones and John Stinson, Headteacher from St Peter's CE Primary from Redcar & Cleveland.

If you haven't returned your consultation responses to the DfES please do so. You have until 31st August but I would suggest if you are like me do it sooner rather than later otherwise you may forget. Don't forget there is also a pupil response form. To view the documentation click here

A new website is being developed to support the North East Strategic Partnership for Sustainable Schools, www.sustainableschools-ne.org.uk This site will supercede the regional partnership information on this site, allowing the EWE Centre to focus on EWE activity. There's not much there yet but more will appear over the summer.
